Open Discussion with Crew Member Sara Keltie
I have been a volunteer crew member aboard the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society vessel the Bob Barker for nearly two years now, and an onshore volunteer for many years before that. After graduating from university with my degree in Marine Biology and Zoology I did not believe there was any other avenue for me to pursue that would have the immediate, and vital, impact that one can make through Sea Shepherd. During my first campaign for Sea Shepherd, the 2010-11 Whale Defense Campaign 'Operation No Compromise' we were able to save the lives of over 800 whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. No job could ever compete with that!
Rainbow Serpent will be my first opportunity to speak with the wider public after saying a difficult goodbye to life aboard the Bob and I look forward to sharing my stories from some of the most amazing, sometimes heartbreaking, often uplifting and always inspiring days as a proud Sea Shepherd crew member, and hopefully share some exclusive inside goss on how our 2011-12 campaign is coming along! This will be my first time attending Rainbow Serpent and I honestly cant wait.
